Singapore Hosts Landmark RoboCup Humanoid Robot Workshop at RoboCup Singapore Open 2025
Singapore, 2 April 2025 – Singapore is set to take a major step forward in robotics and AI with the inaugural RoboCup Singapore Humanoid Robot Workshop, held on 4 April 2025 at the Maxwell Auditorium, Science Centre Singapore, as part of the 17th RoboCup Singapore Open (4–6 April) with featured keynotes by:
- Prof Quek Tong Boon (Former Chief Executive, National Robotics Programme, Singapore)
- Prof Claude Sammut (Former President, RoboCup Federation, UNSW Australia)
- Prof Zhao Mingguo (Chief Scientist, Booster Robotics; Director, Robotics & Control Centre, Tsinghua University).
“This workshop marks a pivotal moment for Singapore’s robotics ecosystem, bridging cutting-edge research with practical, real-world applications,” said Prof Zhou Changjiu, President of RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) and Vice President of RoboCup Federation.
Workshop highlights include:
- Keynotes from global robotics experts
- Industry insights from leading Humanoid Robotics companies such as Booster Robotics & KEENON Robotics
- Debut of 3 vs 3 Humanoid Soccer League: For the first time in Singapore, elite international university teams, including Tsinghua University, will compete in autonomous humanoid soccer matches, raising the bar for humanoid robotics competitions.
- Premiere Showcase of Advanced Humanoid Robots: The latest in humanoid robotics technology will be on display, featuring innovations by RoboCup League Partner Booster Robotics, alongside High Torque Robotics.
- Networking with influential investors, researchers, and industry leaders
This year’s RoboCup Singapore Open sees a record-breaking participation of over 900 attendees from 13 countries and regions, alongside strong local representation from over 60 local Singapore schools.
The RoboCup Federation has partnered with industry giants Booster Robotics, Fourier Intelligence, and Unitree Robotics, enhancing research and education while boosting global visibility. Together, they pursue RoboCup’s ambitious vision: developing autonomous humanoid robots capable of competing against human soccer champions under official FIFA rules by mid-century.
